Rand looked upwards and rolled his eyes. "Damn", he nearly inaudibly
swore. He hadn't expected the mission to go without a hitch, but the way
it was starting to unravel he had begun to think it may have.

"Ok.", he said turning to take in his small band that at the moment had
the bridge secured, "What do you suggest we do now? We do have the
bridge, though we don't have the ship. In about eight minutes we're
going to be locked out as it goes into auto-pilot and takes us back to
the waiting arms of some more enemy vessels. We also have the remainder
of the ship's crew who I'm sure by now have realized that there is a
problem."

The other officer's stared blankly back at him. Talon replied by pursing
his lips, breathing deeply for a moment and then speaking.

"Well, that was helpful. Thank you. Here's the deal. That same counter
measure that is locking us out right now is also transmitting an alarm
to each office and room throughout this ship. Since the bridge is the
command center of the ship, we can expect a shock trooper party to be
heading our way right now."

Recognition dawned on the faces of the others. Finally. Who said Marines
were dumb?

"That's right.", Fisher replied from his prone position on the floor.
"And when they get here, you will be killed or taken prisoner where you
will get to watch the fall of your precious federation presence in OUR
system!"

Rand sighed loudly, "To think I'm technically one of you. The federation
never wanted to hurt you. They only wished to exist together and help
each other out."

"To hell with that!", Drei snapped, "You are a traitor and your damned
federation is a leech, they wish to suck the life-blood from Dalriada
Prime. You've even managed to take the only family I had left. My
brother. Go to hell!"

"If I do, you can greet me at the gate.", Rand replied, setting his
phaser to stun and silencing Fisher, at least for the moment.

"Ok folks, it's showtime. We'll have visitors soon. Let's give them a
welcome party."

The Dalriada XO of the PROMETHEUS silently hoped that Po got things
settled in Engineering before the shock troops arrived there to take
care of them. They had precious little time before they needed to lower
the shields of the massive Dalriadan starship, and they were outnumbered
almost 100-1.

He wondered what the line would have been on them at New Las Vegas. He
realized he didn't want to know. Taking a moment for the umpteenth time
of the mission to keep an eye on Lexaura, he realized he really wished
he hadn't allowed her to come along. They were probably all going to
die.

respectfully submitted,

LCDR Rand Talon
XO, USS PROMETHEUS

NRPG:

All: Yes it was short. Yes I am back. Yes my writing will get better.
Cut me some slack, I got back in about a week. <BG>

Rob: Welcome to the PROM. Glad to have you. It's by far one of the
finest ships that ASR has ever had. Of course that was before I got the
chance to fill a command position aboard her. <BG>

Tim: Your weary old heart can relax now. I'm back. Hope your vacation
was fun.
