[FMD: 7.1830 USS YAMATO - Bridge]
The first few minutes after the destruction of the COUGAR had been
chaotic on the bridge of the YAMATO. Systems were off line and damage
reports were coming in from all over the ship.

Isaac and Alex looked over the status display adjacent to the center
seat.

"All things considered, we're not in terrible shape," Alex said, "If we
had been much closer when that cruiser went up, we wouldn't be having
this conversation."

Isaac nodded, "And if the explosion had propelled us closer to the
center of the system instead of away, the Dalriada would be almost on
top of us already. Is LT Wolfe good enough to pull us out of this?"

"I'd bet my life on it, Sir."

"Let's hope it doesn't get that close XO," Isaac replied with a nod.

[FMD: 7.1830 YAMATO - Engineering]

"Beginning emergency purge of the warp core," ENS Hibiki announced.

Chief VanDelsie hopped over the railing around the warp core and on to
the short bridge that led to the access hatch. She put the tool kit she
carried down on the deck at her feet. "How long has the helium purge
been running, ENS?"

"About 35 seconds, Chief. We've got about 2.5 minutes to go."

"Kids," Rebecca muttered shaking her head, "ENS, I'm going to manually
override the purge."

"Manually override?"

"Yup," Rebecca said. She grasped the releases on the core access
hatch. She turned them hard half a turn outward until they stopped.

[Warning, warp core purge has not been completed.]

"Computer, override and permit manual venting," she said.

"Manual venting?" Hibiki asked, "I've never heard of manual venting?"

[Acknowledged, purge cycle set for manual venting.]

"You aren't likely to, either, ENS," she replied. She turned the
latches to their fully outward position and a puff of helium escaped
past the access hatch seal. She grasped the handles and pulled the
hatch cover off and a cloud of cold helium escaped from the hatch into
engineering causing a mist like cloud of condensation to form within it.

She turned toward Hibiki and handed him the hatch cover, "Don't loose
that ENS, we'll need it again in a few minutes. What's the ETA of those
Dalriadan ships?"

"About 10 minutes," he replied.

"Hopefully this won't take that long," she said as she picked up the
tool kit and began to wiggle through the opening into the warp core.

Rebecca carefully put her feet on the small platform that ran around the
inside of the matter/ anti-matter reaction chamber. She looked up and
could clearly see the crack that ran down the length of the anti-matter
injector housing. The final two stages on constrictor magnets were
clearly out of alignment.

"ENS, this is going to take a few minutes," she said, pulling out her
tricorder and phaser welder, "How's the cloaking device coming?"

"Better, I think," Ryoga replied.

"Good."

[FMD:7.1840 YAMATO - Bridge]

Isaac watched the Dalriadan ships close on the YAMATO and felt like
turning the bridge over to CMDR Connor so he could go down to
engineering and help out. Somehow he resisted.

He punched a control on the arm of his chair and said, "Stern to Bal."

[Bal here.]

"What have you got for weapons, LT?"

[I've got a type 3 phaser rifle in case the Dalriada try to board.]

"That's not what I meant, Bal."

[This ship is in no condition to fight. Phasers are off line because of
problems with the EPS conduits. The forward primary torpedo launcher is
off line. The pod and aft launchers are still functional, but with
shields at 50% I don't think we'll get close enough to do much damage.]

"Understood. Hopefully we won't be in a situation where we even have to
worry about it. Stern out."

> The engineering compartment leapt into action, passing the cables
> through the holes and plugging the device in. Morgan opened a channel to
> the bridge.
>
> "Captain, one miracle on the cloak, as ordered."

"Good work, LT. LT D'artgnan, recloak the ship," Isaac ordered.

The ship recloaked, and Isaac felt a little like cheering. "LT M'gan,
best speed
away from here," he ordered.

"We're limited to about half impulse power because of the power demands
of
the cloaking device," M'gan replied.

"Understood," Isaac turned to Alex, "XO, see how things are progressing
in engineering. I want warp speed as soon as possible. Then you can go
see how things are in sickbay. You are to assist Dr. Mara in any way
she needs help."

"CAPT, don't you need me here?"

"Not really, XO. LT Bal is right, we need to return to OMEGA for
repairs. We've done some damage here and shown that the Dalirada aren't
unbeatable. We've got to get that knowledge back to OMEGA."

NRPG:
Tough week. I'm trying to finish stuff up at work so I can go to
Arizona on Monday. In that regard, please make sure you have my juno
address on your mailing lists.

Gabrielle: Please send a copy of your character's bio to the mailing
list. Gabrielle will be joining us shortly.

All: The fleet mailing list is catching up to us. We'll start posting
to the list soon. I have a few YAMATO back posts to send to the list,
so don't get confused when you see them. If any of you have had
problems receiving mail from the list, let me know.

I may try to put together a master timeline for you. I'll try at least.

Pat: Please send out an updated roster, including NPC's. You can
eliminate some of the Marine NPCs if you'd like.

The crew has some small amopunt of leisure time now whil we return to
OMEGA and the fleet catches up. I will have Isaac report to ADM Brooks
in my next post mid-next week. I expect the YAMATO will return to OMEGA
at FMD: 9.0000-ish.

BTW: One of the players from SB ALIGHIERI wrote the destruction of a
Daliradan supply ship in the same way the COUGAR was destroyed. I think
someone is reading our posts.

Respectfully submitted,
CAPT Isaac Stern
